GOLDEN JUBILEE - 20 JUNE, 2010

The Gracious Golden Years

The Almighty has done great things for me. Holy is his name (Lk 1:49). Yes, it was indeed gracious golden moment for each one of us as Sr Jane Gracias our first Indian Provincial celebrated 50 years of her dedicated life on 20 June 2010 among the Daughters of St Paul.
The preparation for the celebration reached its culmination on this day with a grand celebration of the thanksgiving Eucharist which was presided over by Rev Fr Albert Menezes S J. The invitees consisted of priests, sisters, brothers, her relatives and friends. The chapel was decorated elegantly with colourful flowers and a meaningful backdrop for the altar which portrayed the significance of the day’s celebration. The liturgy was prepared with an introduction to set the tone for the whole celebration. In his homily Rev. Fr Albert shared about some of the positive traits of Sr Jane: she is a person of commitment, zeal, leadership and love. He explained about vocation in general and the response each committed religious is called to give.
After the Eucharistic celebration we proceeded to the hall which was decorated beautifully and with joyous music that welcomed us warmly. During a short felicitation programme, Sr Jane was welcomed and further introduced to the audience. Sr Jane did feel at home and happy with the welcome procession, we could see her dancing with the flower girls and dancers. The golden day continued with some cultural items by the nieces and nephews of Sr Jane and also by our formees. All of us shared a delicious meal. We, with Sr Jane had an enjoyable evening with lots of cultural items and celebration. The sisters, formation groups and our helpers put their talents and creativity to make this day beautiful and wonderful.

Thank you, dear Sr Jane for being a wonderful, committed person and for the generous donation of your life in the Congregation.
