On 17 May we the Daughters of St Paul celebrated the wealth of our congregation - silver, gold and diamond jubilee of our dear Srs Jolly, Rosely, Sahaya, Doris, Mary James and Albina. Yes, they found their true treasure in the Lord’s vineyard. Hearty congratulations to you dear sisters! We the Indian province are proud of you and rejoice with you all as you thank God for his marvellous grace.
On an occasion like this, it is but natural to go down the memory lane and count the many blessings which the good Lord has showered on them during the many years of their religious life. Our jubilerians had rightly quoted from the letter of St Paul to Thessalonians 5:24, “The one who called you is faithful.” They entered the chapel with lighted lamps as a symbolic offering of their life to the Lord. His Lordship Agnelo Garcias presided over the thanksgiving Eucharistic Celebration. In his homily he said, “The love with which you have responded is being tested in your religious life and the celebration is of your fidelity and of your faithful love, so it is a day of rejoicing over the past.” The jubilee celebration was short and meaningful and the beautiful evening ended with cultural programmes prepared by the sisters and the formation groups.
A jubilee celebration is a celebration of faithfulness to the one who has called you and loves you. A silver, gold and diamond jubilee in fact is made up of many days, weeks, months and years. We thank you sisters for your generous, loving dedicated service rendered to our congregation using your many God-given gifts and talents. We pray that God will bless you all with good health and strength to effectively carry out the responsibilities entrusted to you.
A Jubilee is a time of memories but memory looks to the past .A Jubilee looks also to the future and like Dag Hammarskjöld our jubilerians say, “For all that has been Thanks. To all that will be Yes.” |
