Diffusion

The first apostolate carried out by our sisters in Mumbai, the place of our foundation, was family apostolate through visitation with our books which soon expanded to include visits to offices and gradually to schools and parishes by the late 1950s.

In October 1955 our sisters set out on their first outstation diffusion mission to Mangalore. After that, sisters continued launching out to other places like Bangalore and Calcutta (today Kolkata), as we did not have our centres there   yet. They stayed at convents of other Congregations or Diocesan pastoral centres at times even for weeks or months and reached out to the schools and parishes in the surrounding areas.

In 1959 the first Press day was organized, and soon the following year the Gospel week was held together with a Bible-Exhibition cum Symposium. This was the beginning of the establishment of the Diffusion Department to organize these book exhibitions in schools and other venues like seminaries, conferences and convention halls for the purpose of catering to the needs of Indian audiences.

This was followed by establishment of the Export Department in 1980 to cater to diffusion of our books abroad.
